  • Brent Baker, Chief Executive Officer — Brent Baker is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Sustainable Biodiesel Company (TSBC) and its subsidiaries including Tri-State Biodiesel and Bridgeport Biodiesel. Under Baker’s leadership, TSBC is the largest vertically integrated cooking oil-to-biodiesel company on the east coast, recycling millions of gallons of cooking oil throughout the Northeastern US and processing it into clean burning biodiesel fuel. Tri-State Biodiesel is the first, most well-known and biggest biodiesel brand in New York City, and was the first company to sell biodiesel fuel to private fleets in NYC and to provide biodiesel fuel at a gas station pump in the city.

Baker is a pioneer of the biodiesel movement and has been a biodiesel educator and producer of biodiesel fuel since the fuel emerged in the United States about 20 years ago. He is now a nationally known spokesman on biodiesel and was instrumental in helping to pass New York City’s first ever bill requiring the use of biodiesel in all heating oil sold in the city. More recently, Baker has completed the construction of New England’s largest biodiesel production facility, located in Bridgeport Connecticut.

Baker has been featured on many media platforms including The New York Times, National Public Radio, ABCs Business Week Weekend and the PBS News Hour, which called him a “Johnny Appleseed of biodiesel” in 2004. Baker serves as a biodiesel industry consultant to both the public and private sector and was featured in the award-winning documentary “Fuel”. Baker, who has met with Al Gore and biodiesel superstar Willie Nelson, was awarded the Social Venture Network’s “Innovators Award” and accepted into the GOLS program, sponsored by Goldman Sachs and the Clinton Foundation. • Bridgeport Biodiesel, LLC is a Connecticut based subsidiary of The Sustainable Biodiesel Company LLC.

The Sustainable Biodiesel Company (TSB) is a national company which is focused on the development and implementation of urban-based biodiesel projects utilizing non-food crop biodiesel feedstocks such as Used Cooking Oil, Jatropha Oil and Algae Oil.

Founded by life-long biodiesel activist Brent Baker, TSB believes that the use of sustainably-produced biodiesel in combination with demand reduction measures such as mass-transit and transportation alternatives and in concert with technological advances such as diesel hybrids and light rail systems, can create an America that is both energy independent and sustainable.

TSB also believes that all used cooking oil generated by U.S. restaurants should be captured and processed into biodiesel as part of this national sustainability strategy.

The Sustainable Biodiesel Company and its affiliates have operations in the District of Columbia, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and California. The company continues to seek dedicated local developers in urban areas through out the United States to work with in implementing successful biodiesel projects.

TSB was the proud recipient of the Social Venture Network’s (SVN) 2009 Innovation Award for CEO Brent Baker’s work in maintaining “triple bottom line” principals at the company.
